As Mayor of the City of Eufaula, it is my pleasure to greet you. We’re a proud city with a rich heritage and prosperous future. Our neighborhoods, churches, schools and countless civic organizations are filled with families who give their time and invaluable talents to make Eufaula a great place to live, worship, work and play.
We are a better community because of the diverse citizenry who choose to make Eufaula their home. Eufaula is indeed fortunate to have many wonderful resources, including the Eufaula Community Center, Fendall Hall, Shorter Mansion and the Eufaula-Barbour County Chamber of Commerce and James S. Clark Interpretive Center. There are also many recreational opportunities available, many centered around Lake Eufaula, which is included on the BASS Trail. There is also the Playground of Dreams, constructed by our community for our community, as well as Old Creek Town Park, an eight-field baseball/softball complex that also boasts nature trails, a recreational beach area, fishing pier and boat ramp. Complementing Old Creek Town Park is the Yoholo-Micco Trail, a scenic two and a half-mile long walking/cycling trail that meanders along the banks of Lake Eufaula and connects the park to Eufaula’s downtown area at the trailhead near the Chamber of Commerce.
Eufaula has a varied manufacturing and industrial base, from American Buildings Company, a major manufacturer of steel buildings, to Equity Group, a poultry-processing industry based primarily in Eufaula’s Lakepoint Industrial Park with satellite support services reaching into Barbour and surrounding counties. Also in Lakepoint Industrial Park is Hyundai Polytech America, an automotive parts supplier to the Hyundai plant located in Montgomery. Cooper Lighting, a major manufacturer of fluorescent lighting, Mann’s Bait, an internationally-recognized manufacturer of fishing lures, Southern Plastics, a manufacturer of soft plastic baits, Johnson Industries/Humminbird, a manufacturer of depth finders and other fishing-industry related products, as well as Beaulieu, a yarnworks supplier, are located in the Eufaula Industrial Park. Other contributors to Eufaula’s economy include Alabama Inter-Forest, JKM Manufacturing, the division offices of Alabama Power Company, and Medical Center Barbour, which employs more than 200.
No matter where your interests lie, Eufaula is a great place to live and work. I hope you will take advantage of the many opportunities to be found in the Bluff City of the Chattahoochee! Take care.
With Best Regards,
Jay Jaxon, Jr.
Mayor
